Everest Base Camp (EBC) Cho-La Pass and Gokyo Lake Trek is an adventurous trek into the Everest region which combines the Everest base camp with the Gokyo valley and the high Cho-La Pass 5420m. This trekking trail offers stunning views of many Himalayan giants like Mt. Everest (8848m.), Lhotse, Makalu, Ama Dablam, Nuptse, Mt. Pumori, and many more. The natural beauty, and the rich and unique culture of the Sherpa inhabitants.

Gokyo a hidden valley with gorgeous blue lakes in the lap of the Himalayas has a reputation among the adventurous souls. Many trekkers yearn to visit the Gokyo Valley as a side trip during their Everest Base Camp Trek and they feel their Everest trek is incomplete if they happen to miss the trip to Gokyo Valley, Gokyo-Ri, and the famous Cho- -La pass The entire area is blessed with abounding natural beauty of shimmering Lakes. Beyond peace of mind at the tranquil appearance of the Glacial Lakes, we can enjoy 360-degree panoramic views of four above 8000 m massifs and other mountain ranges from the best viewpoint of the Everest Region, the Gokyo Ri because panorama from here is more spectacular than that from Kala Patthar viewpoint.

Arrival in Kathmandu arrives in Kathmandu and meet our representative in the airport who will take you to your hotel and briefing about the trip. Overnight at hotel.

    Early departs to domestic airport for flight through the mountains to Lukla. After landing we have a short trek to Phakding.

      Trails follow the Dudh Kosi valley upstream we cross and re-cross the river before making a final steep climb to the Sherpa capital of Namche Bazaar.

        There is the option of a day hike to the Sherpa villages of Khumjung and Kunde and views of Everest, Lhotse and Ama Dablam from Everest viewpoints.

          The trek continues along the rushing glacial waters of the Dudh Kosi with magnificent views of the mountains. We will spend the night next to the Tengboche monastery (3860m), the spiritual center of Khumbu region. Inside the monastery are incredibly ornate wall hangings, a 20-foot sculpture of Buddha, and the musical instruments and robes of the Lamas. If our group is lucky, we will see the Lama perform a ceremony and hear the mystical chanting and music.

            Trek via the last permanent habitation of Pangboche to the seasonal settlement of Dingboche.

              There is the option of taking a light acclimatization hike up the valley-On option we make a day hike into the upper Imja Valley, to Chukkung valley (4730m) below the Tremendous 3,000 meter south face of Lhotse. After lunch at Chukkung return to Dingboche for overnight.

                Today's trail continues along the lateral moraine of the Khumbu Glacier and passes by stone memorials for climbers who have perished on nearby summits. overnight at lodge.

                  This is another big and difficult day walk along the Khumbu Glacier and up to Everest Base Camp at 5365 meters, the closest you can get to Mt. Everest without mountaineering equipment. There will likely be a team there about to attempt the summit. The view of the Khumbu Icefall from Base Camp is spectacular. We return back to Gorak Shep for the night.

                    Most of the morning in this day is spent climbing Mt. Kala Pattar, a small peak (by Himalayan standards) at 5545 meters. The ascent is demanding but the climber gets the most magnificent mountain panorama: Everest, the highest point on the planet at 29028ft, 8848 meters, towers directly ahead and on all sides loom the other giants, Nuptse, Pumori, Chagatse, Lhotse and countless others. We make a quick descent to Gorak Shep. Then we descend gently to Lobuche and then go upward to Dzongla.

                      today crossing a famous glacier pass at Everest region to another beautiful place Gokyo valley. 

                        Climb the Gokyo Ri which emerges above the village in the northern side of the Lake. From the Peak, you can see the beautiful view of the summits of Everest, Lhotse, and Makalu. Then we descend to Gokyo and trek top Machhermo. We follow the Dudh Koshi River. We see large yak pastures there.

                          From Machhermo we walk downhill to Phortse tenga. We pass through the forest covered with rhododendron, pine, and local incense. Then we ascend in the steep path to Monglo and then descend gently to Kyangjuma we walk in the flat path for some time and then descend to Namche.

                            This day is the last day of trekking. From Namche we descend to Lukla passing through the forest of rhododendron and pine as well as Sherpa villages.

                                Transfer to airport flight back to your home.

                                  Regarding the Lukla flight details which may affect your itinerary. During peak seasons, ( March, April, May, October, and November) the flight to Lukla will be operated from Ramechhap/Manthali Airport due to air traffic expansion In Kathmandu Airport, which is about a 5-hour drive from Kathmandu. Whereas, during non-peak seasons, (January, February, June, July, August, September, and December) the flight is operated from Kathmandu.

                                  You have the option to book a direct helicopter flight from Kathmandu to Lukla for an extra charge of USD 550 per person. This price is quoted on a 5-people sharing basis. This is the best alternative to avoid the long drive to Manthali airport.

                                  The below-given cost is per person and the below-given Everest Base Camp and Gokyo Lakes Trek fixed departure dates are available for you. If the given date is not favorable then please contact us and we will happily customize your trip on dates more appropriate for you.

                                  Useful Information

                                  Kathmandu - Lukla - Kathmandu flight may be delayed by few hours or even canceled due to bad weather condition. So, you should be prepared for such flight delays or cancellations. But we will do our best to avoid such conditions. In case of flight cancellation, we will try to get you on the flight for the next day. Getting early flight for the next day may not be possible during the high season so, we can arrange flight by helicopter as well but it will be an extra cost. If we have a group of 4- 5 people, we can charter a helicopter from Kathmandu – Lukla.  It will be advisable to have extra days in Kathmandu before and after the trekking. We can arrange you cultural / adventure tours (such as sightseeing tours, rafting, jungle safari, with extra cost if the extra days are not used for the flight conditions to Lukla and back.

                                  If the flight is delayed and canceled for several days which could disturb your onward journey, you are free to choose trekking in Annapurna, Langtang and other regions and we are Halesi Treks arrange the alternative trek.
